Coffee fans’ rejoice! Unless you regularly drink more than five cups your daily routine has many health
benefits. Here’s a brief overview.
Coffee’s immediate effect on your mental state is well-known and well-loved. See #91 for more on
that. There appear to be long-term effects, as well. Research has found coffee drinkers to be at lower
risk for depression and suicide. Coffee might also slow cognitive decline and the onset of Alzheimer’s
disease in later years.
According to the World Health Organization, coffee lowers your risk for liver and uterine cancer.
Moderate intake has also been associated with a lower risk for heart disease, other types of liver disease,
type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and even tinnitus. Large, long-term studies have also found that
coffee drinkers are less likely to die than coffee abstainers during a given period.
This item on the health benefits of coffee could be much longer. But you don’t really need me to
convince you to drink some. And isn’t it time for another cup?
